Tragic Loss: ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina & Gen v’ Star Chance Perdomo’s Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Chance Perdomo, the Los Angeles-born star of “Gen V” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” died in a motorbike accident, his managers announced Saturday. He was 27.

“His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by everyone who knew him, and his warmth will live on in those he loved the most,” Perdomo’s agents said in a statement. “We ask you to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”

The incident occurred on Friday and involved no other automobiles, according to his representatives. They did not provide any information regarding the crash, including its location.

“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this,” the producers of the series “Gen V” said. “For those of us who knew and worked with him, Chance was always cheerful and smiling, an energetic force of nature, a tremendously talented performer, and most importantly, a genuinely kind, loving person. Even writing about him in the past tense does not make sense.”

Perdomo most recently starred as Andre Anderson in the Amazon Prime superhero series, which debuted in September. The second season’s production will be postponed due to the actor’s death, the company announced.

“The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo,” Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television announced in a statement.

Review: ‘Gen V,’ the irreverent spinoff of ‘The Boys,’ flies on its own (September 29, 2023).

Perdomo was born in Los Angeles in 1996 and raised in Southampton, England. According to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, a childhood love of young performers on children’s television inspired him to pursue a career in acting.

“When I was about two years old, I told Mum I wanted to be two things,” Perdomo told BAFTA in 2019. “I said, ‘I want to be the first Black president of the United States, and I want to be on ‘Barney.'”

Perdomo briefly studied law before landing a role in the BBC sitcom “Hetty Feather” in 2017. He was nominated for a BAFTA for Outstanding Actor in the 2018 BBC film “Killed by My Debt,” and in 2019, he got the “Breakthrough Brit” award for his part in the Netflix series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”

In a film created for his “Breakthrough Brit” award, Perdomo discussed the potential of art and activism to effect change. “There’s no point in just ranting at someone,” he told me. “But if you can connect with them emotionally and have them think outside their peripheral vision to somewhere else, then that can change perspectives and hopefully lead to more of a permanent change.”
